Switch Lighting Longevity

As we all know, the 80/90/100 series interior switches (seat memory, windows,
heated seats, etc) burn their bulb early in their lifetime.

Have they improved the bulb life in these switches? If a new one is obtained
from the dealer, do the lights last longer?

Also, what's the highest wattage bulb you can put on the backup lights spot
without damaging anything?
