When I was building the wiring harness for my 4ktq, I wanted to get as
many different colors of wire that I could get my hands on.  I wasn't
able to get 2-color wires like audi uses (eg green with red stripe) so
instead I bought 10 different 100' spools of all different colors and
then I used colored electrical tape to add a second color to the wire.
I found that worked better than magic marker as it didn't stick to the
wire very well when I tried it (smudged off too easily).

I picked up the wire from a local industrial fastener place (The
Fastener Warehouse in Portsmouth NH).
