rad fan behavior

Thanks,

I'll take a look whats on the cam cover in the morning... My fan is
actually from an '82 VW Rabbit. It fit exactly, and I got it used for
$40 when my old fan died. I see prices for the "real" fan around $180
new. I believe this rabbit fan is a 4-blade model.

My rad sender is actually new (within 6 mo.) and FYI it is the same OEM
part as is used in a Porsche 928. Perhaps the wires attached to it are
loose. Something else to check in the morning...

Do you know if the after-run rad fan feature can be installed in an '85
if it does not already have this? Or is this more trouble than it's
worth?

Yes, mine is audible while in the car with radio off, but not too loud.
If the car is parked and idling, and you are standing next to it, it is
very loud compared to a "newer" car. This could be normal maybe for a
4000?

Do you know if the multi-speed fans could be used in my '85 in place of
the "hurricane only" model? Could again be more trouble than it's worth
but I'm just curious.

Thanks,
George
