loose alternator belt

I searched the forums and couldn't find an answer for this so....
I changed the alternator belt in both my '84 and '85 4kq's. The voltage
(according to the cockpit volt meter) is about 13.8v for the first 15
mins or so of driving. After about 15 mins it drops to 12v, at which
point I pull over and check the belt tension - it's super loose.
So I get home and tighten the belt, and after 15 mins of driving - loose
again.
I've tightened all the bolts (the one that goes through the alternator
and the adjusters; the one that the adjusters swivel on; and the one on
top that the alternator swivels on). and just to check it before
driving, I took my small pry bar and tried to make the alternator slide
loose - no luck - it was on super tight. I've tightened the bolts as
tight as humanly possible, yet the belt goes loose after 15 mins of
driving. What am I doing wrong??
Am I missing something here? I've re-adjusted it several times now
only to find it loose after 15 mins of driving. Any suggestions are
appreciated!!
