last car that was aerodynamically "copied" from looking at pictures of
other cars occured
back in 1965. Pete Brock designed the "Kamm" tail of the Cobra Daytona
Coupe from
pictures, because it "looked fast". Due to the lack of scientific
aerodynamics of the time
(the Cobra nee AC Ace was an aero brick), the Daytona Coupe was a
success, AND
it was considerably better than it's US rival, the Corvette Grand Sport,
whose wedgy
front end was a source of incredible lift. As for the Ferrari 330 Coupes,
no idea on their
aero performance (boy the cars looked the same), they didn't perform
quite as well as
either US car (although I'd love to have any of them!)
