Dash vent problem

Joe-
I don't have a 90, but the S6 has a similar
flap/climate control system I think.
It sounds like your central flap motor/potentiometer
is broken. Since you have a potentiometer error- you
might have just hit a "dead spot" on the
potentiometer. Maybe you can get under the dash and
manually cycle the linkage-- It might work again for a
while. If not, and you don't have time to replace
before your trip, move the central flap linkage to the
center vent open position and disconnect the central
flap motor electrical connector.
