Hi Cody,
I have been following your thread with interest, as I have engine retarding
symptoms which may be similar to yours, but perhaps not. I don't think mine
are electrical but fuel related. Normally, I cannot get full acceleration
and full boost because the ECU retards the timing but I think it does this
because the fuel regulator in the distributor is sticking - but that's just
a guess. I've been putting in excessive amounts of fuel system cleaner
fluid with my petrol recently and it seems to have improved matters. But
I'm not sure if the treatment is actually cleaning anything or just
reducing the knock due to its presence - perhaps it just reduces the
overall octane level of the fuel.
Anyway... you mentioned in one of your emails about applying battery power
directly to the injectors instead of coming through the ignition switch.
You have a MAC-11 ECU which is similar to my MAC-12D ECU and so you must
have mechanical injectors which do not require any voltage at all. I don't
understand exactly what you have done here. Could you explain, please?
I also read Bernard's reply which suggests testing the AC waveform from the
alternator with an oscilloscope - good idea, I'll try that tomorrow.
Cheers, Mike.
