or electrical interference

or something else...?

Like Huw said, any automotive device that craps out while still above 12v
sounds strange to me.  In most people's experiences automotive components
function at and below 12v.

You have not confirmed that voltage is actually the problem.  You have
correlated that when you turn on more electrical devices then your car
misses increasingly worse.  This may or may not be due to a drop in
voltage.

Even if voltage is the problem, I would be more concerned about having
some unidentified component on my car that does not function correctly at
12.8 volts. You need to find that component and fix it because 12.8 volts
is plenty.

You have a bad component (or more than one) whether or not it is
malfunctioning due to voltage changes or some other reason that may be
related to turning on the headlights and AC.
