Right, I didn't go into any explanations, but what it appeared had happened
was that the alum shavings passed throught the motor, were caught in the cat
(thus my reference to the tight ceramin matrix), melted and combined. There
were no 3/8" balls of anything in my IC.

It may have been the aluminum shavings that were passed
through, and the cat just melted them into a ball. I can't
imagine a 3/8" ball of anything passing by the valves, twice,
(once on the way in, once on the way out), without there
being some loud noises and damage.
