Auto Check System & Trip Computer - Tech Advice Needed - Solved

So in the end it was the trip computer circuit board that went bad.

(scroll down a bit until you see the picture labeled trip computer.

This also has something to do with the auto-check system as the grey button
lower left is what the left pushrod activates through the IC.

So $100 later for a used IC (rather than just $80 for just the circuit
board) and I'm in business and have some other extra IC components just in
case.

I cleaned all the connectors again before putting back in the car.
