I had the same problem when removing the center
driveshaft from my '85 4kq.  I tried breaking it loose
with the engine, beating it w/ a hammer w/ no luck.
What worked for me was a propane torch.  I heated the
flange all the way around, and whacked the CV joint
forward with a hammer and chisel- popped right off.
Might want to give this a shot.
