5KTQ Cracked Exhaust Manifold and upgrades (Cat Hanger)

Youre absolutely correct, the hanger between the cat and the transmission
was indeed not there, which could undoubtably have assisted in the demise of
the manifold. So people check that hanger.

I did read elsewhere (a Brittish URQsite) that collapsed engine mount on the
turbo side can lead to the motor dropping enough to allow the sump to impact
the crossmember, this allowing shock loads to be directly transmitted to the
block and hence the mainfold.

My LH engine mount was also cooked due to the heat shield above it having
corroded away entirely. (stainless would have been nice here, along wiht the
one above the oil pump which is alos dead, thanks audi) Although I found no
evidence of the motor contacting the subframe.

So I am now looking for more info on the 2 piece manifold, along with
somewhere in Nw England to get one weelded up and then ceramic coated.
