1896 5000 CSTQ Camshaft/Flywheel Alignment

In the middle of an engine rebuild, and trying to be
correct about realigning the camshaft sprocket,
crankshaft, and flywheel properly. The Bentley is not
entirely clear on getting these all properly aligned.
The Bentley says that there is a "mark" on the
camshaft sprocket that should be aligned with the top
of the valve cover when #1 cylinder is at TDC. Is
this the small "dot" mark on the front of the
sprocket, because there is also a "dash" mark on the
back of the sprocket. It seems a very inexact method.

Also, the Bentley clearly states to mark the position
of the flywheel when removing, not done in this case.
How does one assure that the flywheel is also lined up
correctly?
Winter is getting close!
Thanks.
