power window not

This could be 3 things:
-regulator
-switch
-low power at window harness

I wouldn't rule out the switch unless you've done work to it or replaced it w/ a new one. The switches can get wet when it rains from inside or outside the door cover and are almost always dirty unless they're nearly new. The moisture can really corrode the internals which are all brass or copper. The switch is actually easy to take apart and this would be the cheapest repair you can make on the window. You just need a few jeweler's screwdrivers and electrical contatct cleaner (WD-40 will do). Scrape away any residue and see if it makes a difference. Then I'd check the wiring for proper voltage at the motor and harness. Check the harness for any breaks or whatever near the door jamb all the way to the window motor. There's also a flow chart to troubleshoot the windows in the Bentley. If everything checks out, then it's got to be the regulator. Some people may try to open the regulator and try to fix it, but I tried and there was really nothing that seemed wrong. Sometimes there just might be some crud or binding inside, but you can't be sure, and opening that cover is pretty tricky. For me it was easier to replace w/ a used regulator and all my windows work fine now. Good luck.

On my '87 5kcstq, my pass. front window doesn't work anymore.  Basically,
for several months it would go up with a fight, and make a loud "clunk" when
it finally closed.  Finally today I had to help it up manually.

I doubt if it's the switch--it still goes down (although I'm not gonna test
it again!). Regulator? Something else?
