Crappy headlights

About the Sylvanias  and various other headlight options....

If your current headlights don't throw light where it's needed, the problem
is the lens. Many Audis, especially in the 1989-91 years, had headlight
lenses that were so bad they should be illegal. The problem is that the lens
diffuses the light and scatters it but does not allow it to be focused down
the road.

Putting brighter lamps in headlights with bad lenses only bothers oncoming
drivers and throws more light into places you don't want it.

Get European headlights. It's the only good solution. Period.
