The crank bolt is torqued higher than the torque need
to crank the engine. The tool locks the motor. Trying
to loosen the bolt w/o the tool would result in madly
cranking the motor around rather than loosening the
bolt. Why do that when you could just as well dig
holes in the lawn and fill them up again winning the
admiration of your neighbors and the adoration of you
wife?
I used an impact wrench to loosen my crank bolt.
Worked fine. In order to get a good shot at the bolt,
I had to remove the bumper, FMIC and aux rad on my S2.
YMMV,
Rich
