Connector identification fun!

Yeah, that's kinda what I was thinking, but I wanted to make sure I
wasn't running with some important component disconnected/missing.
BTW, I've been using your writeup and diagram on the cruise control to
troubleshoot my problem... no luck yet, but I'm making progress I think.
The vacuum pump works when I short it, and pumping soapy water through
it revealed that it was clean. I don't think I had a vacuum leak, but I
replaced the lines for good measure. The actuator on the intake
manifold "sucks in" when the vacuum pump is running, but doesn't move
the throttle body valve (is this right?). The switches on the pedals
appear to be well adjusted and clean, but I haven't checked the closed
resistance on them yet. As yet, the cruise function still won't engage
at all. My guess is a faulty column switch, mostly because I had to
epoxy some brittle plastic bits in it that I broke while taking the
column apart to get at the instrument cluster. 'Twas working before
that, although it did seem to fail somewhat "gradually" afterwards.
Thanks very much, Huw, for making your repair experiences available.
You have saved me much time, and some frustration to be sure, in
killing these gremlins. This car remains, however, easily the most
frustrating vehicle I've ever worked on. And I've installed a
twin-turbo unit in an RX-7, bazillion vacuum hoses and all.
Thanks again!
