The independent suppliers are going to get the business one way or 
another because they don't meet me at the door with a jar of vasoline 
in hand. There's no reason that dealer sourced parts should cost what 
they do especially for the common stuff. Rare trim parts and such I 
understand but I don't get raped when I go to the local Toyota dealer 
to buy parts like brake calipers for the same year automobile.

Meanwhile people like us are making Audi look good by giving the 
impression that they are long lasting, quality vehicles. Luckily most 
people don't visit the junkyard to see all the 3 speed auto type 44s in 
otherwise excellent condition excepting the dead gearbox.
