Not sure. I know what you're talking about, which would be something like this:

I dunno if the KD tools one would work or not, but if you look at it, it has a rounded adjustable section. The instructions tell you to size it, then hammer it into the end of the exhaust pipe. Again, unless I was able to actually see the tool, I don't know if it actually will do what I want it to.

If I can make the flare, then I would slip one of those over the pipe before flaring it, so it is like the middle and center muffler connections on a type 85. The flange from the cat to the downpipe would need to be the heavy beveled one, but the others should be similar to the JC whitney one.

Theres a picture showing kind of how the rear muffler looks. The flange used on that doesn't really need to be beveled to work. That's what I'm trying to be able to make up.

Not a bad idea at all. The only drawback I see is that on a 4kq there is a connection between the center and rear sections which is located above the rear axle. If I were to use the slip joint, it couldn't be located there. Not a big deal, but it would make the section over the rear axle much more tricky to make and install.

heheheh.. That has crossed my mind a few times.
