I've been running DexCool in my CGT for abut 3 years, no cooling problems... But I did a thorough flush before making the switch...

Subject: cooling system questions and Dexcool
Hello group,
Victim is a 1990 100q. The temp gage hardly ever
moves, it is always pegged on cold. I changed the
t-stat and now after about 15 miles the gage goes to
its mark and stay there. Yesterday after some crusin'
at 3000 rpm, I got out of the car to open the garage
door and noticed the fan was running. The temp gage
was still pegged at cold when I got out of the car,
but when I got back in I noticed the temp gage start
to climb to its normal position.
So there is a sensor at the t-stat and at the lower
radiator hose. Everything works, gage, fan, so is the
delay in the gage reading normal? Should I look into
anything? When things work, and I get in there to
"make it work better" I end up asking for rides to
work while I pay for express shipment of parts. How
do the cooling systems out there work?
On a different note has anyone heard about GM brand
coolant called Dexcool, or something close to that?
After reading every label in the store to see what
will work in the audi, free of this, compatible with
that, a mechanic friend told me there is a law suit
against that stuff and get it out of the car as soon
as possible. Heard anything? Its red.
Thanks, love reading the email
Pasquale
