Thanks for all the help and tips for my overheating troubles....

I still suspect the headgasket and I will try to use my compression tester to 
see if one or two holes is horribly off...   I have blown headgaskets before 
but that was from  high boost situations in my CGT turbo  and the gasket was 
obviously blown - steaming exhaust and burnt coolant and all....   There was 
some water in the tail pipe but seemed more like normal condensation...   no 
real coolant smell.

The water pump was sounding buzzy like a failing shaft or something like 
that,  obviously still turning just making noise....     If I fill up the coolant 
bottle and then rev the engine a bit within a couple minutes the bottle starts 
to overflow and bubbles come out but not tons of bubbles just a few big 
ones...

I think if I get to the water pump I should be able to tell by turning it if 
it is bad.  I have a new one to compare it to just in case.
