Type89 Springs on type85 car?

As you know, I'm rebuilding the front suspension of my car due to clunking. Since I will be replacing the struts anyway, I fiugure now is the time for springs. Anyone know what the end result would be from using early typ89 Eibach springs on a typ85? That would keep the height about the same, right? IIRC, if you use stock typ89 springs on a typ85 it raises the car 1-1.5", and Eibachs lower by about that same amount...so typ89 lowering springs would = stock hieght but firmer on a typ85...right? I'm trying to find a way to keep the same (or slighly lower) ride height at the front while firming things up a little and can get a set of early Type89 Eibach springs (front only) dirt cheap becauise the rears were damaged. Thoughts on doing this?
