MC engine cutout

It's been awhile, but here goes:

If the engine cuts out around 3500 RPM under hard
load, there is a good bet that your wastegate
diaphragm has a hole in it.

This wastegate is pretty sophisticated and relies on a
control vaccuum line to regulate the boost pressure.

If you have a vaccuum gun (mity vac or Actron) it's
pretty easy to check:

The wastegate usually has a grey cover, and will have
one vaccuum hose sticking out of the top. Remove that
hose and install the hose from your vaccuum gun...try
pulling a vaccuum. If you can't pull a vaccuum, you
have a bad wastegate diaphragm...

Then the fun begins <grin>.
