How to reinstall seal inserts on a 4000 windshield?

You can't get them back in without pulling the windshield. They are designed
to go into the seal, then install the windshield from outside.

What's the trick on getting the plastic/metal insert to seat in the gasket
slot?

I had part of the plastic insert pull away on the driver's side and its
difficult if not impossible to get the "t" on the plastic/metal insert to
reseat.

Any advice is greatly appreciated!
