1990 200 TQ Road "RPM"

Have retired (sold to my son) my 87 5000CS... Had 380k and still running
strong!

Resurrected a 90 200TQ which is now my commuter car!

Problem: (one of several)

87 TQ was spinning 3000 rpm's at 80 MPH...

200 TQ spins 3500 rpm's at 75ish..

Have checked speedo error, off slightly, but nothing major! 

Have checked gear ratios in several different websites and am thinking the
trans that was installed just prior to me buying the car was out of
something else??

Thoughts?
