Single pass intercoolers

If it is one of the plastic diaphram type Bosch DVs like the ones that come on the 1.8T cars...don't expect it to last very long with more than 8PSI of boost. The one on my Passat 1.8T died very soon after chipping the car. It was replaced with a piston type by Forge. Billet aluminum and very well built, but it requires periodic disassembly and lubing (takes all of 10 minutes). They also offer the springs for it in various stiffnesses so you can taylor how long it remains closed before opening. I loved it...
