Shifter boot malfuntion - 1987 5000

	Sorry, I'm coming into this conversation a bit late.  I also have this
problem and went so far as to get a new boot (used).  When I (briefly)
looked into replacing the boot, it looked to me like I needed to remove
the sides of the center console to get to the mounting bolts. I decided
that was too much effort at the time, and put it off as a "to do later"
job. Is this not the case? Does the boot just push into place?

	I see the front of the boot hooks under the console lip, but it looked to
me like the back mounting was help in with 2 screws.  If I can just "clip"
it into place, that would rock.
