Porche 944 question

The race shop I'm doing part-time work in just finished preparing a 928 for
open-road racing. (Stuff like the Silver State Classic Challenge, etc.)
Although the preparation included considerably more than just the engine,
the total bill came to $22K. His engine now displaces 6.5 liters. Prior to
turning the vehicle over to its owner we took it to a local dyno shop. They
measured 468 rwhp and 550 lb/ft of torque. I have no idea if these numbers
are with/without any corrections.
He probably could've had over 1000 bhp from a SBC for the same amount of
money!
Do you remain a purist? Do you want to win races? At some point the body
become merely an aerodynamic tool a place to hang sponsor decals. At least
the folks at Renegade Hybrids take the time to make sure their vehicles are
safe for the road. Some of the things in their "Hall of Shame" scared me!
