Ok,
I've checked the archives, but couldn't find any posts or websites
that detail how to install a boost bypass valve into a Type 44. Can anyone
point me in the right direction? Any vendor sell a "kit" for this?
Also, how much more effective is the '91 single pass IC compared to
the stock dual pass one? Worth the bother to install?
TIA!

Josh,
I just purchased and installed a sport intercooler with bypass/recirculation
kit from Force 5 (http://www.force5auto.com/ <http://www.force5auto.com/> )
for $475, and I am very pleased. Comes with a larger single-pass
intercooler, new tubing, silicon hoses, clamps and Bosch 710 (the improved
Sport valve) bypass valve. The bypass valve is plumbed in on one side
between the interccoler<->intake manifold and from the air intake between
the boot and turbo. Plumb into one of the IM vacuum hoses at the REAR of
the IM.
No affiliation, just a happy customer!
HTH,
Jim
