High pressure hose problems?

Maybe we're missing something here.
Perhaps the replacement hoses themselves have sat around for so long that they're no longer reliable, either? 14 years is a long time. If that's true, I think the recent posts about finding a good shop to build a set of new hoses might be a good idea.
