Sorry for the delay in responce, I've been too busy to check my email in a
week or so. Remember this advice is comming from a 2nd generation owner of a
Porsche/VAG shop. The best advice I can offer when somebody asks about
buying a 944 is STEP AWAY FROM THE VEHICLE! Seriously the vast majority of
them are junk. They are very nic cars to drive, but they are *full* of
headaches.

I have about 10 944's sitting on my lot, wana know what I do with them? Toss
that POS 4cyl engine and install a Chevy LT1 5.7l V8 from a 1990-1996 F-body
or Vette. Now I know thats Porsche blasphemy (I'm a die hard air-cooled
Porsche guy), but that V8 is the best thing that ever happened to a 944. I
have built 7 of them now at various power levels from stock 300ish to the
current SCCA SPO car thats expected to run on the mid 500's. Very fun, and
it costs me less to do the conversion then it does to rebuild the stock 944
engine (I pay $300-500 for *complete* low mileage used LT1s with all of the
accessories).

A 951 (944 Turbo) on the other hand I think is a great car, and I would love
to own one if I could afford it.
