Was the A4 with the 3.0 engine and upgraded suspension? I drove a left over
2004 model A4 with those options and while it did feel a little slower off
the line than the V50, once it got over 30 mph it seemed to have just as much
pep as the V50. Surprisingly the A4 didn't have as much body lean as the V50
even though both had the upgraded suspensions. Interior space wise they
seemed to be the same, adequate for average sized people, I'm 5'9" at 170lbs,
both front and back.

My experience with the Subarus, only 2.5 engine models, is that they become
rattle traps after a few years. A lot of road, wind and engine noise, and the
interiors don't seem to wear as well, but then my friends have kids in theirs
so that is a very big wear factor..:-), and they're not really into cleaning
the cars. I guess the kids have tired them out.
