Yes.
Being a sucker for distressed Audi's I bought a 1998 A4 1.8T with NO oil
pressure last year..dealer wanted to charge the owner a vast amount to
install a new engine, so he just wanted to unload it.

<snip>

Just to add my needless $0.02 to the argument, I bought a '97 A4 1.8 TQM new
and drove it for 80K miles before it was totaled in a rear-end collision by
a snot-nosed pizza jockey in a hopped up Neon.

The car had the usual issues with groaning control arms and a dragging rear
brake caliper, but never any engine problems. I ran Mobil1 after the
initial factory break-in period and never burned a drop. During warrantee,
the oil was changed at the dealer every 7,500 mi using my supplied oil.

I was very happy with the car. I found the 1.8 engine to have plenty of zip
when attached to a manual gearbox.
