timing marks made the engine knocking

Don't know if I'm reading you correctly, Denis, but did you check that the
woodruff key in the cam pulley is intact?  There have been reports of  keys
breaking.  I found on one of our 4kq's that the key had disappeared
completely (like noone put it back the previous time).
