Big problems

Ok all, My buddy and I have pulled the plugs and rotated the crank by
hand,(one cranking, and one listening). As each cylinder reached top
the sound of "dry cylinder screeching came closer through each
corresponding plug hole. I am guessing that it is because of the lack
of lubrication due to a rebuild and excessive turnover without
adequate pressure to get the oil circulating. it doesn't sound like
bearings necessarily. I will continue with my diag. of the engine by
first draining oil, checking for debris in it, and eventually removing
the oil pan and checking the bottom end.

Now after reading this does anyone feel like I may be on to something
with the lack of lube or what???
thanks in advance,
