If it's the sort of transmission that I'm thinking of the drive flange is
held in place by a C-clip.
To remove the flange, put a solid piece of steel between the flange and the
transmission case - something like a thick punch or chisel and then take one
of the cv joint/drive flange bolts and screw it through the drive flange
until it touches the piece of steel. Then you tighten the bolt and this
should pull the flange out of the transmission.
