Thinking about getting a Mechanicaly-challened '88 90Q. Need diagnosis and parts advice.

Did I really put it that way?  Must have been half asleep... it is on 
the top of the bell housing, and a bear to remove because of limited 
access, but it can be done.

As bad as the job can be, it can also go very quickly.

A decent set of jackstands will get you enough clearance, btdt, took a 
pair of us about 12 hours to do the whole job.  Dollying the tranny out 
and in on a floor jack is a bit hairy, it helps to be able to 
comfortably bench-press 150 pounds, I suppose.

When the kid at the shop next door killed his 90Q clutch (kept trying to 
  do burnouts...!), one of the techs there did it for him one evening, 
on a lift, of course.  Using the bumper/transmission jack that I 
couldn't figure out when doing one of my coupes.  I think the whole job 
took him about 4 hours.  Amateurs move much slower...

Well, it might be an ok deal.  $1200 is still a bit steep, but it's not 
a rip off, if the rest of the car is sweet.  And a color you like.
