tire fitment datapoint -- 15 " Kuhmo Ecstas

Hello all,

Haven't posted for a while so here's a datapoint for
some daily filler.

I recently upgraded to 15" rims on my 1988 90q. These
rims came off a 1990 200 turbo FWD and have a 45mm
offset. My Audi 90q at some point in its life was
changed over to the later style two-piece strut
housings where a 37mm offset is specified for 15" rims
(I believe) such as on the 90-92 Coupe model with
Speedlines.

Anyway I was a little concerned about fitment of
larger tires because even with 195/60 on 14 inch rims
there was very tight fitment in the front depending on
tire brand.

But...the Kuhmo Ecsta 712s 205/50/15 fit up front with
just a pinky finger width between the tire and tie-rod
end (glad I didn't have to get spacers!). Rear fitment
is fine. Very nice tires at a good price ($58 from
tirerack). Haven't really explored the traction but
the "ride" is very good.

When I upgrade to 16" rims I'll definetely need
something in a 35-40mm offset range. Hope this helps someone.
