It is fairly easy to check your firing order. Start by looking at the
distributor
with the cap removed. There is a small mark on the side of the distributor
which
should line up with the rotor when the engine is on #1 TDC. The way to put
it on TDC
is look at the cam gear through the hole on the drivers side of the engine
and see
the mark on the back of the cam. The distributor rotor turns clockwise when
the
engine is running. The #1 plug wire should line up with the rotor at this
point. The
firing order of the 5-cyl is 12354. A couple of other things to check is to
make sure
the cap is on correctly. If you still have the plastic cover under it, check
to make
sure the notch is in the groove, and it is not holding the cap partly off.
also, make
sure the rotor is on all the way (in the groove correctly).

(4kq) Ok. Spark plug wires go bad, so i do what any normal person does,
leave it sit and order new parts from blau. (8mm wires, bosch plugs, DC,
rotor)
Put them all on, checked every wire with the old wires so i wouldn't screw
up
the firing sequence. I pulled them off the old DC as I checked each one so
I
knew witch ones i did. All plugs went in fine except the one at the very
front of the engine, (the wire went bad on this one, sparking) it turned
rough so
i put some of that oooozzz on it that the kit came with. Went on "better."
So I get everything on, start it up and it barely kicks over, let off the
gas
it stalls and sounds like it's got a little back fire. Every time I try to
fix something on her I end up Fugding it up. Too expensive for me to pay
someone to do it on a college budget, and I need to be able to fix it
myself. Any
idea audi brains? All info greatly appriciated and Im back to driving the
neon
(again) until it's fixed. Sorry it's so long, just trying to explain
everything thoroughly. Gotta go try to get some greece of my fingers.
