Ben, all I can say is that with all the stages my car
has been through, I just wish I had the 034EFI stage
IIc ECU the whole time because it's so flexible.
Bottom line is your motor requires X amount of fuel,
and Y degrees of ign advance at any given load. With
a mapable system, that's exactly what you can change
in seconds. Now, unless you can completely hack the
Motronic system to do whatever you want, you're going
to have issues somewhere. The 20v can take much more
ign advance on boost than a 10v, and based on what
I've heard, it takes a ton of work to get a 10v close
to the stock flow rate of a stock 20v.
Obviously money is an issue with most of us, but so is
time. If you have the time to fiddle with it, by all
means do it, it would be great to see what you come up
with. It will also probably make you appreciate a
really good mapable DIS system if it ever comes down
to it. If I was you , give megasquirt'n spark a try,
I think it will be just what you need to get started.
