Intercooler fitment, etc. on possible turbo conversion

Ti,

Are the bellhousings different on the 5 cyl than the 4.  I always thought
they were the same.  Don't know why I have carried this misconception.
Probably has to do with how VW/Audi have been pretty good at making things
interchangeable.  Seems that in the past I could pretty well swap engine and
trans from the old to the new, esp. VW.

I did obeserve the crank bolts for the flywheel are different - at least on
the model 80 2. l. vs. 5ktq.

If I were to source a FWD trans. for a '83 coupe upgrade, which would you
look for?  How to get around the hydraulic clutch conversion issue?
