The main problem with the design is that it uses a magnetic clutch - a couple of concentric
cylindrical magnets.  If the car is run without coolant additive, flakes of rust get stuck to
the face behind the impellor and stop it turning.

If you do get a second-hand one, test it in a bucket of water.  Just because it buzzes and
doesn't leak doesn't mean it's any good.

And Audi Mineral Oil (part G002000 is NOT expensive if the system doesn't leak.
