I think that's why, in many countries, motorcycles and
scooters are so popular -- cheap to run, cheap to insure,
and good in traffic (if splitting lanes and moving to the 
head of a line at a traffic light is legal).  Here in the States, 
they are treated more as toys. Where I live (NH), the
traffic advantages are not legal, so you're just like a car.
And bikes aren't good in the snow and ice.
