Thank you all for the answers.  Were the original lower covers the press 
board like stuff used on the side shrouds or were they plastic like the 
top radiator cover?  Does anyone have any pictures of what these looked 
like?   One of the items on my (long) Audi to do list is remaking these 
out of aluminum.  I can fake it, but OE guidance would be helpful.  I 
don't have access to or possession of the Family Album or anything 
similar to reference.
