17x8", 30mm offset on a 4kq or Coupe GT?

I ran 17x7.5" ET35 w/ 205/40R17 on my 87 Coupe quattro, and they rubbed a lot,
I had to roll the fenders, which helped a bit, but the tires still kept
rubbing the very front end of the rear bumper. They also sometimes rubbed the
front fenders at full lock. I replaced them with 16x7.5 ET28 w/ 205/45R16 and
that helped a lot. My 14" wintertires, that are installed today, of course
doesnt even come close to rubbing.
When I had the rubbing problems with my 17" wheels, I checked out a few specs
on the FWD vs quattro models, and I found that a FWD 4k or Coupe is about 15
mms narrower in the rear end than their quattro counterrparts. THis of course
helps a bit when fitting wide wheels in the rear end.

mostly about how well they would fit, and less so how they might look (since
that's a personal thing).

matter? I think my 17"s are 7" wide, and the offset is higher as well, maybe
40mm.

current convex-ish Revo's due to both the size and style.
