Hello all,
I'm having a really tough time in trouble shooting this one and wonder if anyone outhere can get me going again.
After having a hard time starting the engine in cold weather, boosted the car and then it started, but it ran really rough. Took it to my local mechanic. got there but really had loss of power. We found that pulling ignition wire from cyl 2 and 3 and no effect on engine( even though you could see a nice spark while pulling out the plug wire ) . Working on the fuel side, we pulled out injector 2 and put in in place of one and vise versa. The problem stayed on number 2. I pulled out injector 3, stuck a dummy injector in place, started the engine and looked at the spay pattern, fuel came out but the spray pattern not quite good.
Changed the entire fuel distributor assembly ( only the fuel line and injecors are the same )from my ( used to be ! ) working donor car with the same results
Looking on the electrical side, we inverted plug wires, changed the plug, but still the problem stay with cyle 2 and 3.( we of course respected firing order in all of this )
Now thinking I have a problem with a valve. Did a compression test cyle 2 = 145 3 = 150 psi. Those two cylinder side by side sure looked suspicious so we finally ran out of options and took the head off today, but everything looks nice ( the head gasket was ok ).
The only thing left right now would be a slightly not closing valve or someting wich I'll see later this week
My real question is. Could a low system pressure cause this, i did'nt check carefully the fuel pressure so would it be possible to have always cyl 2-3 not have enough fuel because of system pressure even though I've changed the fuel distributor ( remember I relocated injector 2 in to number one )
I would really appreciate some comments out there
Regards
