Here is a post about a winter driving student who couldn't make the event
because he had no oil on the dipstick and his CEL was on.
Feel free to pass this on to anyone you think would benefit from this.
MY Q is:
This a 2.7 T thing or any V6?

Guys,
It sounds like it was a fun weekend. On 7:30 Saturday morning, at 27
degrees below zero, about 10 miles before Twin Mountain, my check engine light came
on. There was no oil reading on the dipstick. So, after a tow back to
Nashua, which took most of the day and included an initial 4 hour wait for the
truck to come, I later found out that the crankcase ventilation hoses/valves
frozen up because of the condensation and sludge inside them. The increased
crankcase pressure forced the oil out through the rings. When I picked the car up
from Audi of Nashua later that week, there were five other Audi's with the
bi-turbo engine with the same problem being repaired. It turns out that Audi
has redesigned the vent hoses to make them more resistant to freezing (i.e. it's
a known problem). Anyway, I'm back and running again, and looking forward
to next winter's school.
Dave
