I can't read German... but I assume somewhere in all that it describes a
4 cylinder 80 quattro? You mention a 4 speed... does that mean there
was a 4 speed quattro tranny once upon a time? Cool...

That's a cool one... I'm still looking for a definitive quote in there
in what his original engine was (he mentions swapping in an '88 4 cyl)
but it sure seems like it was a 4 cyl, like a 1.6!
We should write these folks and ask them what their VINs are/were to
answer that burning question... are they type 81 because they are 4
cylinder or type 85 because they are quattros???
The mystery deepens...
