The Fox was the B1 platform, type 82, from 1973 to 1979 model
years. Prior to that, the "small" Audi platforms were the original
Audi 60, 80 and Super 90 from the late 60s. These don't have the
VAG type codes because they were developed prior to the VW acquisition.
They were actually re-worked 4-stroke engine versions of the DKW F102.
The 100LS was the first "new" Audi developed under VW's tenure, so
it's known as a C1 platform, but still did not adopt the VAG type code
yet (I think it was a "F104"). It wasn't until the C2 5000 for 1978
that the "big" Audi line got a VAG type (type 43).
There was also an even smaller Audi in the 70s, the Audi 50, which
was basically just a VW Polo of the time, rebadged as an Audi. It
wasn't sold in the US, and I don't know what its type code was.
