My coupe, and to a much lesser extent, my 90Q, do that, but only on a 
hard right when the tank is fairly low.  Almost empty, for the 90.

An old 83 5kt I had did it quite irritatingly, say, once it was down to 
3 or so gallons, after a fuel tank repair job I had done.  I figured 
they messed up the pickup set up a bit.

Your might have something to do with that, but it's hard to tell.  No 
harm in changing the fuel filter anyway, looks like your car might be 
rust free, so it won't be the nightmare it is for us Northerners...
